Three areas of intervention

Fundamental for the lives of children and youth, we have identified three areas of intervention: Education, child protection, and health.

As the first basic premise for a better world for all children and young people, all children must have access to quality education. This means that children can access free education, well-trained teachers, and school materials. Through this, they build personality, talents, and abilities, which will be decisive for breaking out of poverty, participating in decision-making processes, and demanding their rights.

In all spheres of children's lives, we must protect them from violence, exploitation, and abuse. If we are not successful in this, it will affect children's development, well-being, and future. Without a safe and loving environment, children cannot develop optimally, accept learning, or fight for their rights without fear of the consequences.

In the same way, health is fundamental for children to thrive, develop, overcome obstacles in everyday life, and utilize their full potential. When children have children, cannot go to school because of menstruation, cannot receive essential health services related to a disability, or are otherwise deprived of the opportunity for physical, mental, and social well-being, it affects all other aspects of a child's life - not only here and now, but for the rest of the child's life.

Our method

To achieve noticeable changes in the three areas – education, child protection, and health – we use both innovative and well-tested methods. We strengthen children and young people's competencies through capacity building. We build their self-esteem and self-confidence through training, and creative forms of expression. And we allow them to use the necessary tools to get a seat at the table where decisions are made. We offer them the tools to support them in informing their immediate family, local community, and the government about issues that affect them and their rights through advocacy. Most importantly, we work with sustainability across these methods so that the improvements we create today together with children and young people, are not gone tomorrow or dependent on financial support to continue. Sustainability takes time, which is why we work with regular partners on long-term projects.
